PROOF, ARTWORK & COLOR POLICY

Experience the Elegance and Style in Every Image

Effective Date: August 30, 2026

Great print starts with accurate artwork and careful proof approval. This policy explains the responsibilities of JYS Sign & Print Co. and our customers before an order enters production.

What Proof Approval Means

When JYS provides a digital proof, the customer is responsible for reviewing the entire proof carefully.

Approval confirms acceptance of:

  • Spelling
  • Grammar
  • Names
  • Dates
  • Phone numbers
  • Websites
  • QR-code placement
  • Images
  • Logos
  • Colors
  • Layout
  • Orientation
  • Design
  • Product size
  • Content placement
  • Quantities or versions shown
  • Other visible design elements

Once a proof is approved, JYS is authorized to move the project into production.

Customer-Approved Errors

JYS is not responsible for errors that were visible on an approved proof.

If a customer discovers an approved error after production begins, any correction or replacement may require a new order and additional payment.

Proof Approval and Deadlines

Production does not begin until all required approvals and project information have been received.

If proof approval is delayed, the original projected production or delivery date may also be delayed.

A deadline communicated before proof approval is contingent upon the customer approving the proof within the required timeframe.

Changes After Approval

Changes requested after proof approval are not guaranteed.

If production has not started, JYS may be able to make the requested change. Additional design, setup or production charges may apply.

If production has already begun, the order may need to be reproduced at the customer's expense.

Customer-Supplied Artwork

Customers submitting print-ready artwork are responsible for ensuring that the file is accurate and suitable for production.

This includes:

  • Correct dimensions
  • Adequate resolution
  • Proper bleed where required
  • Accurate spelling
  • Correct images
  • Correct logos
  • Embedded or outlined fonts where necessary
  • Proper file formatting
  • Appropriate image quality

JYS may identify obvious file concerns as a courtesy, but JYS is not responsible for proofreading or independently verifying all customer-supplied content.

Low-Resolution Artwork

Images taken from websites, screenshots, social media or low-resolution files may not reproduce sharply at larger sizes.

Increasing the physical dimensions of a low-resolution image does not create additional image detail.

If a customer instructs JYS to proceed with artwork after being advised of a quality concern, the resulting pixelation, softness or reduced image quality will not be considered a production defect.

Artwork Repair

Files requiring:

  • Reconstruction
  • Resizing beyond basic setup
  • Background removal
  • Vectorization
  • Logo recreation
  • Extensive formatting
  • Design adjustment

may require an additional design or artwork preparation fee.

JYS will communicate significant charges before completing additional work.

Color Expectations

Colors displayed on phones, tablets and computer monitors are produced using light and may appear differently when physically printed.

Printed color may vary because of:

  • Monitor calibration
  • RGB versus CMYK color spaces
  • Ink formulation
  • Material color
  • Material texture
  • White ink
  • Transparency
  • Lighting
  • Finishing method
  • Printer technology

Digital proofs are intended primarily for layout and content approval and should not be considered exact color proofs.

Repeat Orders

Slight color differences may occur between separate print runs.

Reorders produced at different times may not be perfectly identical to a previous production run due to material lots, environmental conditions and normal printing tolerances.

Reasonable variation is not considered a manufacturing defect.

Exact Brand Colors

Customers requiring critical corporate or brand colors should notify JYS before production.

Color matching, physical samples or test printing may be recommended and may require additional cost and production time.

JYS does not guarantee an exact Pantone, paint, fabric or previous-print match unless a specific color-matching process has been agreed to in writing.

Material Differences

The same artwork can appear different when printed on:

  • White vinyl
  • Clear vinyl
  • Coroplast
  • Foam board
  • PVC
  • Acrylic
  • Banner material
  • Paper
  • Other substrates

Material characteristics are part of the finished product and are not considered printing defects.

Customer Authorization

By approving a proof or instructing JYS to print customer-supplied artwork without a proof, the customer accepts responsibility for the content and production specifications submitted.
